[RPG] WOOHOO

I got invited to a new game and made my character for it last night.

It's KnightErrantJR's Savage Worlds: Hellfrost game, and I am kind of excited about it.

JR is quietly one of the best GM's I have encountered in my life. He's creative, conscientious, prepared, concerned about a good mix of action and roleplay, responsive- and he's seriously invested in a good game every time he comes to the table. And he's FUN.  I really admire that in him and can't wait to play.

I'm also more than a little bit nervous.

It's my first time playing a fantasy setting in a very long time. And I'm playing in a group where I've never gamed with any member of the table.

I know all of them except for one guy who is pretty new, but I haven't ever played with any of them before.

After considering that I don't know the setting and I don't know the players' styles very well, I decided to go with a known entity in the character department and made a "face".

She's a wanderer and a shameless flirt, familiar with many cultures and languages- and a tendency for trouble now and then. She's gotten away with all kinds of things and had to slip away in the dead of night once or twice... so nothing I can't handle, I don't think.

If I could just remember her name... [KIDDING! It's Tyco.]

  1. Good for you. I think that it can be a good thing to play with people you have never played with before, as everything is...new. You have to figure out their playing style, as well as them trying to figure you out. And you can try out new things or characters that you may not have tried before.

I really want to play in a JR run game! I've sat in and watched him run his games for a while now and he does really give his all when he runs a game. And this is even more pronounced when I am not having the best time in a couple of games right now.

  2. I like your character. Like a true role-player you went with concept first before any mechanical considerations. Good luck with the group, meeting new gamers can be more than a little challenging!

  3. Thank you for the kind words, Loq. I'm really looking forward to the game, and it will be interesting to see what direction everyone goes.

Also, I would love to run about a half dozen more games, if only I could alter time or something. That having been said, I'm doing much better at running some of those systems/settings I've always wanted to get a shot at running.

One of these days I may even get around to a Call of Cthulhu game . . . bwa ha ha ha!
