Closing the door?

What's On My Mind Today
Mini-intro: I'm primarily an RPG girl, but I have some miniatures games I like, and quite a few board games that are worth my time.
I do not follow the "rules" for most gamers I know. I am kind of anti-stereotype.
I really don't enjoy D&D of any form (that is a whole different post, btw).
I'm not a huge comics fan.
I'm not a computer nerd.
I don't have a wacky fan-boy adoration of fantasy or science fiction. For the most part, I don't LIKE fantasy. Science fiction is hit or miss, depending entirely on the author, content and tone.
I don't do costumes.
And my biggest anti-stereotype, given that I am female-
I don't play because I want to "spend time" with my loved male person.
Things I DO-
I do try lots of games. I have done everything from Napoleonics to far-future sci-fi to homebrews to horror inspired table top board games to funky card games.
I do believe in a family game. My dad introduced me to gaming. I met my husband gaming. My brothers game. My sister-in-law games. My kids game.
I also believe in knowing what is and is not appropriate and making those choices for my family appropriately.
I play because it's fun. It's social. Games are highly educational. Most games make you learn math, strategy, tactics, history, culture, or all of those. (I learned to tell time, do multiplication, division & fractions because oif gaming.) Most RPGS make you learn teamwork and considering how your actions affect others. I play because I like to, and because I enjoy the people around me (for the most part).
Much of what I'll talk about here is RPG related, with some other stuff thrown in for spice.
Enjoy the adventure!
