I am trying to relearn the etiquette, though - especially since it drives me crackers when other people offer me help that I didn't ask for. Hypocrisy is not an attractive quality...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-356241226024929790.post-55751503339940727342011-06-22T15:46:32.363-05:002011-06-22T15:46:32.363-05:00@Loq It was a good game and it was fun, that's...@Loq It was a good game and it was fun, that's what matters.

@rkik Thanks for the correction. I guess in my haste to write something funny I looked at the rule wrong.

@Farmpunk Yup I was playing Tau then. One of only like 5 games I had with them before reducing them to proxy Eldar and eventually selling them.FunDavehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15787495897539100323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-356241226024929790.post-54368423596807989842011-06-22T10:39:30.596-05:002011-06-22T10:39:30.596-05:00:-) Yeah, I never much liked the whole AP mechani...:-) Yeah, I never much liked the whole AP mechanic in the current 40K... Too many things out there AP1 or AP2, and too many advantages for the cheap Melta (AP 1, extra Pen dice) weapons that I really do not think are really paid for fairly in the point system... Mind, having said that, you will notice I still use a LOT of Plasma/Melta/Krak Missiles in my lists...Paul Chappellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04800315555473550635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-356241226024929790.post-13489041067309508922011-06-22T09:46:22.913-05:002011-06-22T09:46:22.913-05:00Oh, and just be glad that Jimbo never attended Bob...Oh, and just be glad that Jimbo never attended Bob's School for Lasgunners (frequently attended by my friend's Devastators, Razorbacks and Predators). He'd never be able to hit the broad side of the barn.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-356241226024929790.post-55429771368980513482011-06-22T09:43:08.396-05:002011-06-22T09:43:08.396-05:00Very nice.

Tank Hunters adds 1 to the Vehicle Penetration roll, not the Damage roll on the table.

So in step 3, if Jimbo was a Tank Hunter, then he'd add 9 (strength of the layzergun) + 1 (for tank hunter) + D6 to see if he glanced or penetrated the Land Raider.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-356241226024929790.post-86625853470878798602011-06-22T08:42:24.257-05:002011-06-22T08:42:24.257-05:00FunDave's a good guy. JibJeb was still there, so was PictureTed (and his Dread-heavy list of Iron Hands DOOM) It wasn't long after the Vanilla Marine Codex was out.

I think the winter after, FunDave had Tau if I remember right. We had fun. In the old bank location downtown caddy-corner from Dallas and Co.

I love the Billy Bob and Jimbo redneck layscannun commentary. It's brilliant.

It's tough sometimes for a peanut gallery to keep their mouths shut. Important skill to learn. I've pissed off people when I waltzed by a game, and gave a pointer to someone, not realizing I just changed their game by offering insight. I've tried to learn to turn off the commentary until after a turn has been executed.Farmpunkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09622091234212120598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-356241226024929790.post-83783331663032434162011-06-22T08:21:06.125-05:002011-06-22T08:21:06.125-05:00Got to love the commentators. It was one of the things that perplexed me for the longest time. i agree, it does seem counter-intuitive but once you grasp it then it makes perfect sense. It's one of the very few stats where lower is better.

Vehicles I found easier than wounding normal models. When wounding normal models it's a strength to toughness comparison which involves a chart. Eventually you figure out how the chart works and memorize the system. For vehicles though, simply put, it's just weapon strength + D6 and you need to score at or over the armor value. There's no chart involved with trying to damage a vehicle so I found it easier when starting.

That is indeed a good friend. The game can get confusing quick when you're learning and it seems impossible to remember it all but in time you do.Thorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04437070475561268098noreply@blogger.com
